Senior Softball is here! If you’re interested
in playing, or can form your own

Senior residents of El Dorado Hills are
needed for the El Dorado Hills Senior
Support Council. This volunteer five
member group meets monthly at the
El Dorado Hills Senior Center. The
Support Council is a liaison group
between area Senior’s, the El Dorado
Hills CSD, and the County Department
of Senior Services. Elections will be held
in October. Individuals interested in
getting involved need to call NOW to
place their name on the nomination
form. Think about it! Become active
in planning and implementing Senior
activities at the EDH Senior Center . . .
we need your help. Interested applicants
can call Fred St. Jean (933-0802)
or Yvonne Griffin (933-8462).
If you need to learn the basics, including
Internet and email, call to sign
up for 3 free lessons. Our volunteer
instructors will work with you one-onone.
Students need to have a home
computer for practice.

facts regarding fire safety especially
for seniors. You will receive life saving
information packets along with a few
fun giveaways. Learn about the free
smoke detector program offered by
EDH Fire. Program is done in conjunction
with El Dorado County Fire and
the El Dorado Hills Fire Dept.

A brand new group for those dealing
with the prevention and treatment
of osteopenia or osteoporosis.
Learn from others as we discuss issues
related to bone disease. Led by local
registered nurse, Janet Block. Families
and care givers are welcome. Call the
El Dorado Hills Senior Center for more

Human Services provides excellent
meals for a reasonable donation of
only $2.50 for seniors age 60 and
over, and $4 for those under 60.
Lunch is served Monday through Friday
at 12 noon in the Garden Cafe.
Closed on major holidays.

1pm for the current menu.
Usually held the last Friday of each month following Senior Nutrition lunch (1
pm), these special dances feature the live music of the El Dorado Hills Fun Time
Band under the direction of Al Kolthoff. Kick up your heels, or just sit and enjoy
your musical favorites as you are entertained by this energetic group of local
senior musicians. Call the Senior Center to confirm dates, as schedules may vary.

we will be playing table games of
YOUR choice! If you enjoy board and/
or card games of any kind, this is the

Learn bridge in this “bare bones”
introductory class geared to folks who
have no previous knowledge of the
game. We will introduce the echanics
of bridge as well as the foundation
for evaluating hands and bidding.
Class includes notes, discussion and
hands-on play. Louann is a certified
bridge teacher with the American
Contract Bridge League.

Appropriate for players who have
been away from the game for a long
time or who have some beginning
knowledge of bridge. Class includes
notes, discussion and hands-on play.

Duplicate Bridge groups are now
playing on Tuesday afternoons (1
pm) AND Friday evenings (6:30 pm).
The game is ACBL sanctioned with
points awarded to winners, (ACBL
membership is not required). Game
play partners are recommended, but
player arrangements can be made
with advanced notice. This fully stratified
game is open to all levels of play,
but a basic knowledge of the game is
required since no time is available for
lessons. Game fee is $2. Game size is
restricted due to available space. Contact

became a fad in the 1920’s and is
played by many Seniors today. Mah
Jong players get together weekly to
play this simple yet fun rummy-like tile

Do you want to improve your bridge
game? Enjoy learning and playing
with others at your skill level. Course
focuses on Standard American bidding
which has been modified to a
more modern style consistent with
what experienced players are playing
today. Fee includes a ninety page
reference booklet for new students.

Join friends two days a week after Senior
Nutrition lunch for Fun Bingo. This
popular game has been a longstanding
tradition for El Dorado Hills Seniors for
many years.

The Mad Hatters are a group of local
residents that knit hats for newborn
babies and cancer patients in local
hospitals. Have the Hatter’s teach you
to knit/crochet or brush up your skills.
Since its inception, Mad Hatters have
delivered over 62,000 hats . . . and
it all started here in El Dorado Hills!
Become a part of this energetic group
which has spread throughout the US.

socialization while working on knitting
or crochet projects. Whether you
have a project going, or would like to
make baby hats for the Mad Hatters,

Learn the techniques of drawing still
life, landscape and portraits using pencil,
pen and colored pencils. Lessons include
the concepts of shading, textures,

pinecones and natural materials. It’s
simple, and it’s fun! Bring a glue gun if

this “sewing bee”! Hand sewing and
needlework projects are OK too. Participants
work on their own projects including
quilts, clothing and home decor.

help you in leaving a footprint for your descendents. Attendees may present aspects
of their lives they feel memorable. Each will be followed by a benign discussion.

hone our stories. The first session will be an introduction only, so you can decide if

in the news today and learn more about them. Discuss history,
past political issues, view geography and other pertinent details
in this interactive meeting. Most importantly, group discussion
